Business Planning: “Planning Dimensions for Sustainable Business Value”

Does a business plan matter & why even bother?  Each business is important to the owner – an asset that provides income & some level of value. A business plan can be part of the equation of increasing the value of the company for the owner.  Does it always make sense, in what context & who is the audience?  What are the important dimensions of a plan? This discussion focuses on a context for deciding on whether to have plan, to have it for & what shape it could/should take.
