Someone please take my money - it's not sexy, but it's good

I thought we were supposed to be in a recession. But in trying to hire a couple of qualified PHP engineers here in the Bay Area, it seems like it's a programmers market.

Between Twitter, Facebook in Palo Alto, and a slew of other VC funded start-ups here in the SF Bay Area trying to be the next Google, it's difficult for me to get an experienced software developer's attention. And while we offer a very competitive salary and lots of free alcohol, our mission has always been: stay focused on user experience, stay small, stay profitable.

That, however, flies in the face of the get-rich-quick strategy espoused by the entrepreneur and VC community here. Which in turn, makes us very unsexy and uncool when we want to hire.

Damn, this is just lke High School - but now not even the band geeks want to hang with me.

Leading San Francisco Marketing Agency based in San Francisco, CA Raises First Round of Financing.

San Francisco, CA: August 15th, 2008 - LeadMarket.com today announced a Series A financing that should propel the company's core multi-tenant, scalably fault-tolerant AJAX-based Web 2.0 software application into the cloud-computing core of tomorrow's revolutionary mission-critical enterprise, hoping to gain 1% of the Billion dollar market. It is also iPhone AppStore compatible, and to a lesser degree, the Salesforce.com AppExchange.

Said the company's General Counsel Maad Abu-Gazallah, "This much needed $600 was an all cash deal with a very favorable term sheet."

Added the company's founder John Sung Kim, "The combination of a founding team originally from North Korea and from Palestine signal a clear indication to Sand Hill Road & Wall Street that we're ready to go public.. Or else."

Johnny Shami, VP of Client Services noted that, "this money will be critical to funding happy hour skunkworks sessions and pizza. Lots of pizza."

Love and Haight my iPhone

Like many others I eagerly awaited the iphone and completely geeked out over it the first day we had the privelage of overpaying for it. But then the reality of switching from a Blackberry (with a rock solid OS and a textual keyboard) set in, I realized it was frustration in a pretty box.

I live off of Haight street in San Francisco, and for some reason in the Buena Vista Park section there is horrible reception with AT&T. Dialing out is like rolling snake eyes.. you've got to hit SEND again and again and..

In the early days of the firmware, my iphone would random dial occasionally when touching the screen (now I lock it but still)... The only thing worse than drunk dialing someone is having your iphone seem like you are by random dialing for you.. kind of reminded me of my early model  circa 2000 Samsung voice dial phone - thought it was supercool until I'd say at dinnertime "..you know I talked to Ed today and..." - and the phone would then start dialing Ed. Said Ed would then call me the next day with this opener, "you know I think you accidentally called me the other day... I could hear your conversation...like everything"

Now I have to go because - not joking - it's Friday and I have to qeue up for the 3g iphone on Market St.
